An invitation to SPEAKING OF ANIMALS

This is an amazing opportunity to hear - and meet - some of the finest minds in Animal NGO organisations. And yes, it is this Sunday....and yes, you should buy a ticket.

Speaking of Animals is a series of short talks given by Animals Asia staff, and some other animals warriors from different NGOs. I will be there listening attentively for the morning talks, and I will also be on the afternoon Kadoorie tour to give some photographic pointers, and answer any questions you may have. We hope this will become an Asia-wide conversation, with animal issues getting the recognition they deserve and animals receiving the love, care and respect they need. The details are as follows:

Our Speakers:

Jill Robinson MBE, Dr med vet hc, Hon LLD, Animals Asia Founder and CEO - Jill will give you a fascinating glimpse of the exciting work ahead for Animals Asia.

Heidi Quine, BSc, MSc, Animals Asia's Vietnam Bear and Vet Team Director - Heidi will speak about her incredible experience rescuing bears from bile farms.

Ryan Marcel BSc, Animals Asia's China Bear and Vet Team Director - Ryan will share his insights into what it takes to care for the rescued bears at our Chengdu sanctuary.

Dr. Emily (Eddie) Drayton BVSc (hons) BSc (vet) (hons), Senior vet, China Bear Rescue Centre - She will share with you the joys and sorrows of putting the broken bears back together again.

Dionne Slagter, Animals Asia's Animal Welfare Manager, Vietnam - She will share with you her passion for elephant welfare.

Karina O'carroll BA, Msc, Animals Asia's Animal Welfare Education Manager - She will talk about cat and dog welfare in China.

Dr Fiona woodhouse BA Hons, MA, MVPHMgt, VetMB, MRCVS, Deputy Director (Welfare) SPCA Hong Kong - Fiona will speak about cat and dog welfare in Hong Kong and Asia generally.

Gary Stokes, Founder of Oceans Asia - Gary will speak about ocean conservation in the Asia-Pacific.

Dr Lindsay Porter PhD, Senior Research Scientist for SMRU Hong Kong - Lindsay will focus on the threat to Asian whales, dolphins, and porpoises from the growing aquarium trade in Asia.

Alex Grioni DMV, MVS (Conservation), MRCVS, Head Veterinarian at Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden - Alex will speak about his experiences as a vet, and euthanasia in a rescue scenario.

Amanda Whitfort BA (Hons), LLM, MSc, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Hong Kong - Amanda's topic is animal laws in Asia and how to combat the cruel trade in wildlife.

Afternoon session: A visit to Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (Optional) Time: 2 pm: Shuttle buses depart Hong Kong Central Library for KFBG; 5 pm: Shuttle buses depart KFBG for Hong Kong Island (Central Station)
