One of the great attractions in the winter for photographers in Sai Kung are the fishing birds near the main pier. Many of these are the Black-eared Kites.
I would like to show a fishing approach, taken at the start of February, latish afternoon. These images are relatively unedited, with a small crop, and a few taken out in the sequence, but you can see the bird prepare with its wings and talons, slowing for the circular claw grab. This time he came up empty.... Most of the time these birds are scavengers, grabbing the fish guts that the Sunday market boats throw into the ocean. click on any image to see it larger.
