The Rosy Gypsy or Tussock Moth

The Rosy Gypsy or Tussock Moth While we are on the subject of moths, as they are all around at the moment, this wonderful creature is a female Lymantria mathura Erebidae, Lymantriinae. Or a rosy tussock moth.

And below we find its caterpillar.....his thing was huuuuge, probably the biggest caterpillar i have ever seen. I have been reliably informed by Roger aka Mr Moth that this is a Lymantria mathura, the rosy gypsy moth.
