These photos were taken earlier this week from my front porch area in the UK.
The long-tailed tit is a small, social bird in the UK, easily identified by its long tail and pink, black, and white plumage. It is a common sight in woodlands, parks, and gardens across the country. These birds are known for their energetic flocks, distinctive undulating flight, and complex nests built with spider silk. They primarily eat insects but also consume seeds in the winter.
Identification
Appearance: A small, round-bodied bird with a very long tail.
Size: Approximately 14cm in length, with the tail being longer than its body.
Behavior
Social: Highly social and can often be seen in energetic flocks - often around 6 outside my house.
Cooperative breeding: Often exhibits cooperative breeding, where helpers (usually failed breeders) assist in raising chicks in other nests, increasing the survival rate of the offspring.
Diet: Primarily consists of small invertebrates and insects, but they will also eat seeds in autumn and winter.
oh, and there are repeats as i could not decide which crop was best....
