THE COMMON KINGFISHER
THE COMMON KINGFISHER - so how did it get its name?
Well, that depends on where you get your facts from; A Christian God or Darwin, or elsewhere. If the former, then you may know that it was the kingfisher that was said to be the first bird to fly from Noah's ark after the deluge. To honour this bird (which i presume was just a little brown job previously) it then received the orange of the setting sun on its breast and the blue of the sky on its back.
This was shot last week in LNEC
