A beetle

Not a moth for a change...phew, but also a nocturnal creature that I find feeding - or mating - on the Lima beans planted in a local park late at night.

This is the wonderful Gold Dust Weevil.

It really shines, so beautifully, and it appears to have a light dusting of gold dust. If you look closely you can see that this sheen is actually made up of tiny little scales - like a glitter dress, or sequins.

I have also found them out and about during the day, like in this shot above, which provides a bit more ambient light, but I am still using flash due to the high magnification needed.
