My Eurasian sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus)

It is difficult for me to sex this bed, but I am pretty sure its a female.....The female is up to 25% larger than the male – interestingly one of the greatest size differences between the sexes in any bird species. Males tend to take smaller birds, including the blue tits and finches that I have around my feeders, but this lovely bird, like many females of its kind, catch primarily thrushes and starlings, and are capable of killing birds weighing 500 g or more, perhaps like the woodpecker we posted yesterday. Here she is outside my kitchen window, through the glass no less....
