Another very rare bird that our guide Matthew Kwan took us to see, wrapped in the early mists at the top of Tai Mo Shan, was the grass bird.

AI tells me "The Chinese Grassbird (Graminicola striatus) is a small, shy, streaked brown babbler found in Hong Kong. It prefers grassland habitats, particularly hillside grassland between 113m – 963m asl, and is known for staying low and hidden in tall grass and reeds. It is a globally scarce species, and Hong Kong has historically been the only reliable location for sightings, though populations have recently been rediscovered in Myanmar and Cambodia"

and if you want more: (tho this account says that Matthew prefers insects to birds....hmmmmm, I do not think so).
