The blue-throated barbet (Psilopogon asiaticus) is a green Asian barbet, this one was in the mountains and montane forests of Thailand. Sexes are similar in most respects and share domestic duties. the Blue-throated Barbet is sometimes called Blue-throated Green Barbet in older references). The reason I repeat some images here is because I cannot decide which crop I like the most...please do let me know your opinion.

Its diet is mostly figs and other fruit, making it an important seed disperser in Asian forests. But it will also eat insects, small reptiles, and occasionally nestlings when the opportunity arises.

Like many barbets, it chisels nesting cavities into dead or decaying tree trunks using its heavy bill. Both males and females help excavate the nest, and they may reuse good nesting areas year after year.

Despite its bright green plumage, it can be surprisingly hard to spot because it blends into forest canopies. Birders often first detect it by its loud repetitive calls, especially during breeding season.
