similar to the last post, but I wanted to show how this one - like many lizards - like to soak up the sun by flattening their body out to gain as much surface as they can both to the warm rock and the sun on their backs.

Here it can also be seen trying to rub some of its old skin/slough off against the rock.

The European wall lizard, also known as the Common wall lizard (Podarcis muralis) in the UK. Native to the Channel Islands, the Wall Lizard gets its name from its preferred habitat of walls, rocks and boulders.Another great tour out with the knowledgeable and friendly guide, Marc (link to his site here https://www.marchumphrey.com/ ) was to look for the European Wall lizards. More info below.

WALL LIZARD PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Bristol

Join me in the heart of Bristol to photograph the exotic looking Wall Lizard. These photogenic reptiles are not a native animal to the UK & no one really knows how they arrived at this spot. They were brought over to Britain as pets during the Victorian era and can now be seen at a few sites across England. Thankfully they haven’t had an adverse effect to the local ecology in Bristol so I personally think they make a wonderful addition.
