warbling on.....

Down near the lotus pond in Lions in Sai Kung we spotted a very small bird, flitting around the pond. Here it is

So when i got home I looked it up, and hmmmmmmm, whilst I narrowed it down to a "warbler" there are multiple little warblers that look the same.

I took a guess and contacted a couple of experts. Thanks John and Abdel.

I asked, "is this the Chinese warbler"? nooooooo they replied,

its the dusky warbler (Phylloscopus fuscatus), a leaf warbler which breeds in east Asia.

It is a common autumn passage migrant and winter migrant often also seen in Hong Kong's Wetland Park. It can be recognised by its distinctive repeating calls of 'tsach-tsach'.

The genus name Phylloscopus is from Ancient Greek phullon, "leaf", and skopos, "seeker" (from skopeo, "to watch"). The specific fuscatus is from Latin fuscus "dark".
