The day-flying false tiger moth is a widespread inhabitant of Hong Kong. Often seen late Autumn, sometimes in great numbers, along forest trails.

It was interesting that this one i found in Mai Po flew down to the water several times, and seemingly dipped its wings. I have not seen this behaviour before, perhaps a butterfly or insect expert can let us know why it was doing this?
