yes, this is the Mock Viper, Psammodynastes pulverulentus . and it is a harmless mimic of real viper.
Loves forested hills, and is diurnal - meaning it hunts by day. Can be found in small branches at night sometimes, tho not primarily arboreal.
A rather fierce looking snake, and can bluff either by playing dead (like a stick) or assumes the “S” stance of a true viper, and looks ready to strike.

Its rear fangs and venom are harmless to humans, although one of my friends reported a slight tingling after a bite.
