yep, now we can see how this species got its name.
The body is a purply red and the compound eyes are completely red.
They also have the wonderful hindwing colouration and patterning that i find so attractive.
Just in case you forgot, here is the female of the species.
Its a bit like the SCARLET minivet bird.....have you seen the (yellow) female of that pair? Very confusing, and not very egalitarian in my opinion .... my wife made me type that.
