promo from the organiser....and links for more info
EW! GET IT AWAY! – These are probably the first things that come to mind when one thinks about a spider. They have always been portrayed as these dangerous, villainous and grotesque animals in the media, and they have been largely shunned away by the public. But beneath all the dark menacing caricature, what are spiders actually, and are they as horrifying as they are in the movies?
Peeling back all the layers we will find that spiders are in fact beautiful creatures that display some of the most extraordinary feats of architecture, deceit and parenthood in the animal kingdom. And believe it or not, Hong Kong is one of the best places to observe the full spectrum of the spider’s incredible biology and behaviour! So allow us to take you a trip to our own backyard to explore the wonderfully fascinating world of spiders!
Fee: $150 (includes 1 drinks and light canape)
Hosted by Marco Chan , IG: @That_Bee_Guy

Marco Chan is an ecologist and a postgraduate student at the University of Hong Kong, with a main research interest in ants and spiders. At the moment, his postgraduate degree focuses on the taxonomy and species distribution of small subterranean ants in Southeast Asia, and he is also working with friends to build a comprehensive database of the identification of spiders in Hong Kong. During his free time, Marco is also a wildlife photographer, where he looks for small misunderstood animals to be his photography subjects, including spiders, insects, reptiles and amphibians. Marco hopes that he can combine scientific facts and photography to bring animals that have gone unnoticed into the public spotlight, thus raising awareness and promote conservation of biodiversity.
