Here a lovely Burmese python is about to go back on land.
And one person on social media commented that the sea gull was watching it closely....hmmmmm..as you may know from reading this blog, there's no such thing (species) as a seagull. Because it's a gull—actually, one of about fifty gull species living in habitats all over the world, oceanic and otherwise. And each one has a different species name, and none of them are seagulls.
But actually, the bird is not even a gull. The bird was then identified, wrongly, as a sandpiper.
I double checked and confirmed its ID as a Grey Plover.
Unless, I said, you are American, then its a Gray Plover. But, I was wrong...as John A. pointed out, "Actually, if you're American it's a Black-bellied Plover".... ok, back to the shed.
ps its important to distinguish gulls as some are endangered.
