Puffins

Puffins.

Having just got back from Skomer Island in South Wales I will share some puffin photos and other sea birds that I found there. First off, they fly a long way out to sea to pick up these sand-eels that they then bring back to their chicks in the burrows they dig. However, the big gulls hang around and if the puffin does not shoot down its burrow with its catch they will snap and bully the smaller bird to take its hard-earned catch. However, the puffins do not give up easily, and I have a sequence of c.15 photos from which I have taken these three to show....the puffin is even pulled right up off the ground rather than let the gull have his catch.. the eels broke, and the gull got some, but the puffin still had a good mouthful to take home.
