ORIENTAL BLUE DASHER aka yellow-patched lieutenant Brachydiplax chalybea

This is a very common dragonfly around ponds, and is powder blue with light brown sides and a dark tip to the abdomen.

As you can see on these photos the wings have a tinted burnt-brown base, which fades to amber across the hyaline (glassy and translucent in appearance) wings. The female is a dull yellow, almost brown.

SEE THEM: All types of wet habitat, and I have found them mainly around ponds.
