A fight for a fish

I have wanted to get a close up shot of these birds fishing for sometime. I was not very close for this sequence, but the black wings and white spray look quite dramatic.

This is of course the Great Cormorant, the local species in Hong Kong is Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis.

This is how it all started, with one bird getting a fish which was too big to swallow quickly...so another bird moves in....

Trying to fly/flee with a mouth full of fish is not easy....

This is the moment that the fisher bird dropped the fish and the other rapacious bird dived to retrieve it, eating the other birds "lunch".
