The amphibian fauna of Hong Kong is quite diverse, accounting for 7 percent of the 366 amphibian species occurring in China. You can work that out yourself! But, we only have 3 species of toads, and this is the cutest by far.
This is clearly not the Asian Common Toad, nor the Leaf-litter Toad , but it is the Short-legged Toad (Xenophrys brackykolos) which is normally found around mountain streams....like hear in Lung Fu Shan Country Park.
It is also known as the short-legged horned toad, or Peak spadefoot toad.
