A cascade frog

sooooo, someone asked me, what then, is a cascade frog?

well, feast your eyes, on this beauty.

well, it may be in the eyes of the beholder, ie amphibian lovers.

This is the REAL Hong Kong cascade frog or Hong Kong torrent frog (Amolops hongkongensis). Not to be confused with the GREEN cascade frog from our last post.

This frog was once thought to be endemic to Hong Kong. But its not. A great place to find them are around the waterfalls of Lung Fu Shan Country park. You can go on a night safari with https://lungfushan.hku.hk/en, a brilliant nature education centre.

Their eggs are laid on rock faces in the splash zones of the waterfalls.
