what you can see at night

June 6, 2019

well, it depends where you walk, but I do see a lot of roaches.
This is in fact an Amphibious litter roach Opisthopltia orientalis.

Next to it is a thing which looks like a leech, but don't worry, it is simply a broadhead planarian. A Bipalium to be precise. You are quite safe, but not if you are only a few cm large.

These are predatory, and will eat other animals, like worms, snails and other small creatures. They can be described as "hammerhead worms" because of.....oh, i think you get it.
I have found very long 50cm or so individuals.
These creatures are unique in that they have a "creeping sole" on their ventral side.
