yes, why do the most colourful of caterpillars turn into what are affectionally known as LBJs (little brown jobs), ie small brown innocuous looking moths>?
this above will turn into the drab little tussock moth (i can see the flames already from the moth appreciation society)
And this extraordinary alien looking creature is Thisea sinensis, also destined to be ignored when it emerges as another little brown moth...except by predators. nom nom.
