Here an adult raises its head, body and hood in a classic defensive gesture,

and here next is the typical cobra hood in detail. Normally this is shaped like "spectacles" but can vary by individual.

Here my wife and I came across this cobra hunting, moving slowly along the leaf litter at the side of the path/road, turning the leaves and looking for prey, undisturbed by us. Note that the hood is down, but still visible as a white/paler stripe.
