Po Lo Che is a hilly road that climbs up to the top of some rivers, and provides a great walk, and some amazing biodiversity. My walk crosses the Maclehose trail, near an abandoned village, and a beautiful valley. And after the rain the arthropod and insect diversity is simply stunning, so I will take the next few days to introduce some of the creatures i have found on my rambles.
So, lets kick off with one of my fave moths....the tropical swallowtail moth.
Found along side the path, hanging upside down, as they always do, under some leaves, well camouflaged, so you have to look carefully to find them. They are often damaged, but this one seemed a fresh hatch...simply gorgeous. I have read that the long tails are to confuse bats and other predators.
