Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis

Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis is the known by us commoners as the Great Cormorant, a large, black bird that occurs in great numbers in Mai Po around now.

Here the black and white nature of these birds lend themselves to graphic images along with skeletal trees, often stained white by their faeces.

It is interesting to note that these birds have come from Mongolia or perhaps even further to the north in Russia.
