A fight to the death.

If you are a lizard going out for dinner is always a risk. this long tailed skink has already dropped his tail, but the snake has grasped the stump, and whilst not able to kill by constriction, is not letting go. That is a big lizard for this snake.

You can also see in this photo that the lizard has gripped the snake by the neck/scales, which should also prevent it from eating it....but my money is on the snake!
