so, back to the title.....Entomologist Séverin Tchibozo suggests the larvae contain much more protein (40%), than chicken and beef (approximately 18%) and they could become a protein source for a large human population. already now they are used as such in most of the world, with the exception of industrialized countries. And if you saw what you were eating, it may put you off!
I have seen the bigger Rhino beetles in pet shops in Hong Kong, and they have become popular pets in parts of Asia, due to being relatively clean, easy to maintain, safe to handle, and of course an ideal pet for a 400 sq ft flat! Plus, of course, male beetles are used for gambling fights. To get the two male beetles to lock in combat, a female beetle is used, or a small noisemaker duplicating the female's mating call.
