The lesser of two weevils (groan)

A weevil is a type of beetle from the Curculionoidea superfamily. They are usually quite tiny, but this chappy was the largest that I have found to date in Hong Kong.

Here you can see his size relative to my fingers.

All Weevils are herbivorous, although looking at his face close up, he does look fierce for plant eater.

with over 96,700 species there is a lot of variation, and some really colourful ones.

Many weevils are considered pests because of their ability to damage and kill crops, but others are used for biological control of invasive plants.

OK, lets have some nerdy Scientific classification
