You can find images like this after a heavy dew fall, early morning..or sometimes after rain, when the spiders have to repair their webs damaged by the falling drops.
This was shot using a 100mm macro lens, held on a tripod, with live-view enabled so we could watch the spider at work, as well as take his picture.
